This month’s #BMPR is featuring San Antonio nonprofits and causes that are using Facebook, Twitter and more to build awareness, raise funds and connect with the community. Don’t forget: Bring jars of peanut butter to help out the Food Bank.
Our speakers:
Colby Callaway, tournament director for the ATT Championship will talk about the Champions Tour, its 501(c)(3) status and the charities that benefit from this 24-year-old program. Follow Colby @sajhawk and the tour @attchamp
Erica Benavides, community investments manager, and Martin Medina, the new marketing and internet communications coordinator, for the San Antonio Food Bank will talk about how the nonprofit is using social media to meet the needs of San Antonio’s hungry. Follow Erica @ericabenavides and the food bank @safoodbank
Janice Carpio, community relations assistant director of the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center, helps manage communication, media partnerships and outreach for the organization, which provides blood to more than 100 hospitals in South Texas. She also oversees the center’s MySpace, Facebook and Twitter sites all under @connectforlife
Steve Julian, husband of Holly Julian, and friends have founded Hugs4Holly.org an organization formed to help the couple offset the cost of a double lung transplant that Holly needs due to her COPD. She is fifth on the transplant list. The organization is using the Web, Facebook and Twitter @hugs4holly to raise awareness.
